Our Take
Sheriff Bell is retiring because the country has produced Anton Chigurh, and Bell has no language for what Chigurh represents. McCarthy strips the crime thriller to metaphysics: what do you do when the evil is not solvable, only survived or not? Moss survives nothing. Bell survives into incomprehension.
